Nasdaq is looking for an energetic, intelligent and highly motivated Systems Administrator to work for the US Linux team out of the Vilnius office in Lithuania.  We need somebody who is passionate about automation with a ‘roll up your sleeves’ approach and winning attitude. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for:

  • The continuous automation of our systems infrastructure, developing and implementing solutions to challenging problems.
  • Providing support for our non-trading and supporting infrastructure (hardware and software), performing change requests and root cause analysis of problems where necessary
  • Providing 24x7 emergency and on-call support for issues that require attention

Education, Professional accomplishments, and Certifications

  • A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge/experience using a declarative configuration management and version control system
  • More than three years of systems administration experience

 

Skills, Requirements and Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience with programming languages such as Python, Ruby, Perl, Shell scripting etc.
  • Experience managing a large number of systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with virtualization (oVirt/VMware) and cloud platforms such as EC2, Azure.
  • Solid experience with build technologies such as PXE, TFTP, Kickstart
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and logical reasoning
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and satisfaction
  • Red Hat Certification (RHCSA). RHCE a plus
  • Experience with CentOS/Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform duties with high level of accuracy; Must be able to learn quickly and work in a fast paced environment with the ability to manage multiple competing tasks/demands
  • Must be able to demonstrate commitment to automation (through projects, prior programming experience)
  • An understanding of system security patches and responsibilities.
  • Can work individually, or within a team setting with little oversite.
